Augmented Reality (AR) is a technology that superimposes computer-generated information on your view of the real world, thus providing a combined view via e.g. a tablet or mobile phone.
Current examples include Ikea’s ‘Place’ app for iOS, that allows you to ‘place’ items from their catalogue around your home or office and capture an image of each item ‘in-situ’ to determine if you like it or not.
You can also use the technology to "link" to further information, e.g. if a person "scans" something in the real world, their device can serve a web page, video, download and more.
We believe it has huge potential to further disrupt retail markets and a great deal more besides.
